Carlos Alcaraz is once again on top of the tennis world after his win over Jannik Sinner at the US Open.
Alcaraz had praise for Sinner after the match, but it was the Spaniard who emerged victorious from a four-set match to end his opponent’s reign at the US Open.
Sinner won plaudits from Jimmy Connors when he won against Alcaraz at Wimbledon, but he never really looked like getting the better of his opponent at Flushing Meadows.
Alcaraz’s serve caught the eye of Tim Henman, who commentated on the final, and there were clear tweaks to the game plan after his defeat at Wimbledon.
Alcaraz has moved to withdraw from Davis Cup action in the coming weeks, and now, a member of his team has delivered his take on his brilliant performance.

The smiles were etched all over the faces of Alcaraz’s team after this stunning victory, and clearly, a lot of work went into beating Sinner.
Tennis can sometimes appear boring when Sinner is on the court purely due to the fact that he very often blows the opposition away without breaking a sweat.
There was no danger of him doing that to Alcaraz, however, and Ferrero revealed that the game plan was clear going into the final.
Ferrero said in his press conference: “The great thing about Carlos is that he’s a chameleon. You can ask him for anything, and he adapts and gets it done. We carry that over to training. After Wimbledon, we asked him for certain things in the matches against Jannik, and in just 10 days, he improved them considerably.
“That’s the most incredible thing about Carlos, being able to improve in a very short time what he needs to improve. He’s only 22 years old, and we can’t think he’s perfect. He still has a lot to improve. He’s serving better and better, hitting forehands, backhands… but more things that can be improved. If we think not, we’re making a mistake.”

Rafael Nadal sent a message to Alcaraz on the back of his latest US Open triumph and other players from past and present have taken to social media too.
Ivanovic has taken to social media to praise Alcaraz, saying: “Congrats Carlos Alcaraz on winning the US Open. Always love watching two of them play against each other. And what great tennis from Carlos last night and throughout the tournament. An amazing year for Jannik as well. I can’t wait for Grand Slams next year.”
Alcaraz is now the world number one in the ATP rankings, and that will be a position he aims to finish the year in.
It’s fair to say that the rivalry between Alcaraz and Sinner is now in full swing, and it will be fascinating to see if a third player emerges to start properly challenging these players.
