There were scenes of jubilation between Alcaraz and his team after watching him win his sixth Grand Slam title to confirm his return to the top of the ATP rankings.
It appears that those celebrations are set to continue for a bit longer, as Alcaraz has now withdrawn from his next scheduled tournament that takes place this week.
Alcaraz was scheduled to represent Spain in their Davis Cup tie against Denmark on clay in Marbella, with a potential singles match against Holger Rune looming, but it is now being reported that he will no longer participate.
Following his triumph in New York, Alcaraz is reported to have withdrawn from the upcoming Davis Cup tie and will now be replaced by Jaume Munar.
Alcaraz will now have an extra week away from the matchcourt, with the Grand Slam season now over until 2026.
What is Carlos Alcaraz’s next scheduled event?
Although Alcaraz will no longer be playing in Davis Cup competition, his next scheduled event is still set to be played in a team format.
As part of Team Europe, Alcaraz is set to compete in the States once again at the Laver Cup in San Francisco.
This will be the second time that he has played in the competition, with Alcaraz making Laver Cup history on his debut last year.
Alcaraz will be joined by Alexander Zverev, Holger Rune, Casper Ruud, Jakub Mensik and Flavio Cobolli, and mentored by new Team Europe captain Yannick Noah.
The Laver Cup gets underway on Friday, September 19, with Alcaraz’s next ATP tournament taking place in Tokyo the week after.
