Jannik Sinner has commented on Carlos Alcaraz’s wrist injury for the first time ahead of the French Open.
Sinner beat Alcaraz in the Monte Carlo Masters final, and he has not played any tournaments since then.
That is not the case for Alcaraz, who suffered a wrist injury at the Barcelona Open and has since withdrawn from the Madrid Open.
Alcaraz is now in a race against time to be fit for the French Open, and Sinner has revealed his wish for his biggest rival.

Jannik Sinner hopes Carlos Alcaraz will be at Roland Garros
Alcaraz and Sinner were both at the Laureus World Sports Awards in Madrid, as they were both nominated for the Sportsman of the Year Award.
Alcaraz took home the award, but there are currently a lot of doubts about whether he will even be able to play at the French Open this year.
When Sky Sports Italy asked about his biggest rival’s injury, Sinner revealed his hope for Alcaraz to be fit and ready for the French Open.
“He is going through a difficult moment: we hope to see him again soon on the courts, maybe already in Rome,” said Sinner.
“I hope he can also be there at Roland-Garros, because – when you want to win – you want to do it by beating the strongest in the world.”

Jannik Sinner says if he thinks his rivalry with Carlos Alcaraz is like ‘The Big Three’
Sinner and Alcaraz have dominated men’s tennis in recent years, having won the last nine consecutive Grand Slam titles between them.
This is similar to the stranglehold that ‘The Big Three’ of Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer had on men’s tennis for many years, and Sinner was also asked to compare their rivalries.
“Well it’s similar [the rivalry] but it’s still different,” said Sinner. “I entered the circuit when Roger almost didn’t play anymore, Rafa I saw a little bit more. The same thing with Djokovic, who’s still here and I’m lucky enough to learn from him.
“But I believe that every rivalry, each player is a little bit different. Me and Carlos, and I can only talk about Carlos because I’m in this rivalry. We are two very normal people, we try to give our best.
“We won the last important tournaments, talking about Slams, and of course he’s a player who pushes me and I’ll always give my best, I think that’s the beauty between us.
“We hope to see him back on court very soon, I hope he’s there also for Roland Garros. The others rivalry… 15 years passed, me and Carlos just started, so anything can happen. Hopefully not [anything bad] but we see.”
