World number one Jannik Sinner is gearing up for his return to action.

The Italian has not played since the Wimbledon Championships, where he beat Carlos Alcaraz to win the title.

Sinner claimed his fourth Grand Slam championship and a first on grass and now he is training for a return to the hard courts.

The 23-year-old thrives on the concrete and Sinner is now in Cincinnati preparing to defend the title he won a year ago.

Jannik Sinner provides fitness update and says his arm sleeve gives him more stability

On the way to winning Wimbledon, Jannik Sinner sustained an arm injury after taking a fall during his quarterfinal against Grigor Dimitrov.

Dimitrov retired at Wimbledon due to an injury of his own while beating Sinner by two sets at the All-England Club.

Sinner advanced as a result and he wore an arm sleeve as a precaution during the rest of the tournament.

Ahead of the Cincinnati Masters, Sinner shared an update on his elbow and explained why he may continue wearing the arm sleeve.

“The elbow does not hurt, but I like the section that gives the sleeve,” the defending champion in Ohio shared.

“It gives a little more stability in the impact with the ball. I had also used it at Wimbledon and I liked it.”

Jannik Sinner says he ‘surprised’ himself by winning the Wimbledon title

The only Grand Slam final that Sinner had yet to reach was at Wimbledon. That changed in 2025 and not only did he compete in the championship match at SW19, but Sinner lifted the title.

This was just his fourth tournament after returning from a three-month suspension and Sinner admitted he was shocked with the level he has been able to produce so quickly.

“Returning to the tour and being able to express this level of play after what had happened in the previous Slam at times surprised me too,” the Italian said. “So I’m very happy, I arrive with that push.”

Sinner will push himself to the limit once again as he gets set to play his first hard court tournament since January’s Australian Open.

Sinner will commence his Cincinnati campaign against either Vit Kopriva or a qualifier.
