Holger Rune now faces a lengthy absence from the ATP Tour after suffering a serious Achilles injury.
Rune left the court in tears at the Stockholm Open after retiring due to an Achilles issue in his semifinal match against Ugo Humbert.
It was unclear as to how severe this problem was at the time, with Rune since confirming the serious nature of his injury which could see him out of action for a year.
Rune has since undergone surgery on his Achilles, and now his former coach Boris Becker has offered him some advice.

Rune was coached by Becker for a short period of time, with their working relationship coming to an end in February 2024 after just five months together.

However, it appears that there are no hard feelings between the pair, with Becker often offering Rune words of support.
The former world number one has done the same after Rune’s surgery, but requested that he not rush the recovery process.
Becker wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter), “Glad the surgery went well ! Now be patient with the rehab and come back stronger!!!”

The messages continued for the world number 10, with Ben Shelton, Alexander Bublik and Gael Monfils all wishing their best for Rune.
