Holger Rune didn’t wait long to get surgery on his Achilles injury.
During his semifinal match against Ugo Humbert in Stockholm, Rune suffered a devastating Achilles injury, which forced him to retire.
The Danish star shared an update after the match, as Rune announced his plans to get surgery this week.

Rune underwent surgery on Tuesday, October 21, in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Shortly after, Rune took to social media, updating his fans on how the surgery went.
Holger Rune says his Achilles surgery went ‘really well’
On Instagram, the world number ten had this to say about the operation.
“Hi, everyone. Surgery went really well today,” said Rune.
“Thank you for all your incredible messages and support.
“I will keep you updated on my recovery. But now, rest and heal.”
Rune has received several messages of support this week from ATP stars past and present.
In the immediate aftermath of the injury, Boris Becker and Ben Shelton sent messages to Rune on social media.
Now, in the comments of Rune’s latest update, former Grand Slam semifinalist Fernando Verdasco has weighed in.
“Let’s make this comeback epic,” he said.

2025 Cincinnati Open star Terence Atmane was also keen to send his best wishes to the Dane.
“Stay strong,” he said.
They weren’t the only players to comment, as the likes of Dennis Novak, Mark Lajal, and Miomir Kecmanovic were quick to send positive messages.
Rune will need all the support he can get, as he now faces the long road back to full fitness.
While Rune’s mother expects him to return in Spring 2026, others are concerned we won’t see the Dane back on court until 2027.
Recovery from such an injury is difficult, and complications are commonplace, something the 22-year-old will hope to avoid.
Only time will tell when Rune will return, but that’s certainly the last we will see of him in 2025.
