Andy Murray remains closely connected with the world of tennis despite hanging up his racket earlier this summer.

Murray had ‘goosebumps’ over Dan Evans at the US Open, with the duo having played together at the Olympics.

The Scot is also seemingly experimenting outside of tennis following his retirement, with Murray turning to golf.

But he remains a fan of the sport that he gave so much time and effort to, having won three Grand Slams before calling it a day after the Olympics.

Murray clearly wants the best for the sport and indeed the current stars, but he isn’t happy with the current situation.

Angry Andy Murray calls for Grand Slam change

The tennis legend has now called for a change to the scheduling, specifically the late finishes taking place, which have been a regular occurrence at the current US Open.

Tagging the US Open, Australian Open, Wimbledon, French Open, ATP Tour, WTA Tour and the ITF, Murray wrote on X: “The tennis scheduling situation is a total mess. It looks so amateurish having matches going on at 2, 3, 4am. Sort it out.”

The current stars on the ATP and WTA tours are likely to agree with Murray, with Aryna Sabalenka among those to have already voiced scheduling concerns.

A shocked Sabalenka finished at 2am against Ekaterina Alexandrova in the third round, with the pair having been last out at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Novak Djokovic wanted to start earlier and finish earlier at night before his US Open exit, although the Serbian admitted that fans perhaps like it when matches go beyond midnight.

The timing of matches isn’t the only issue that tennis organisers have come under fire for in recent times, with Iga Swiatek calling the season ‘too long’.

Many players across the ATP and WTA have been forced to withdraw from major tournaments in 2024 due to injuries, which often arise given the huge number of matches and events being played.
