Andy Murray has taken to social media to express his delight for Dan Evans after the latter won his US Open first round match.
Evans sacrificed ranking points to play with Murray at the 2024 Paris Olympics, with the duo reaching the men’s doubles quarter-finals.
They were beaten in the French capital by American pair Tommy Paul and Taylor Fritz, with Murray retiring after the defeat.
But the Scot has stayed in touch with the sport after his retirement, with Murray also turning to golf following his tennis success.
He has now been keeping tabs on his former playing partner at the US Open, where Evans has just competed in the longest match in the tournament’s history.

The Briton overcame Karen Khachanov 6-7(6), 7-6(2), 7-6(4), 4-6, 6-4 at Flushing Meadows in five hours and 35 minutes.

He managed to come back from 0-4 in the final set to come out on top against the 23rd seed, with Murray reacting on X with the word ‘Goosebumps’.

Murray would have undoubtedly liked to have played in one final US Open, with the Scot having won the event back in 2012.
He knows all about going the distance in New York, and will have been delighted to see his compatriot emerge victorious against Khachanov.

Evans produced a stunning display to knock out the 23rd seed, with the former now set to take on Mariano Navone in round two.
The Argentine also came from behind in his first round match in New York, beating Daniel Altmaier 1-6, 6-2, 6-4, 6-1.
But he should be fresher than his next opponent, with Evans certain to be tired physically and mentally after his record-breaking win.
