Amanda Anisimova is the latest withdrawal from this year’s Madrid Open.
Anisimova has not played a match since the Miami Open last month, having already pulled out of the Charleston Open.
The American has undergone some significant changes to her team during her absence from the WTA Tour, with Anisimova splitting from her coach Hendrick Vleeshouwers.
Anisimova had not announced a replacement coach, but looked set to make her return at the Madrid Open after being pictured at the Laureus World Sports Awards in the Spanish capital, but she has now withdrawn.

Amanda Anisimova pulls out of the Madrid Open due to wrist injury
Anisimova reached the final of Wimbledon and the US Open last year, and had been predicted to do even better in 2026.
While she has produced some impressive results, including reaching the quarterfinals of the Australian Open, Anisimova has struggled to take the next step.
Anisimova is a former French Open semifinalist, but she is yet to play a clay court match this year and will have to wait until the Italian Open now.
The world number six is confirmed to have withdrawn from the Madrid Open due to a wrist injury, which Carlos Alcaraz is also struggling with.
Magdalena Frech will now be upgraded into a seeded position and take Anisimova’s place in the draw, while a lucky loser will fill in her spot.
Anisimova now has just two weeks to prepare for the Italian Open if she wants to get any clay court matches in ahead of the French Open.
