The French Open has announced the entry lists for the 2026 tournament which features 30 American players.

Coco Gauff won the French Open for the first time last year after beating Aryna Sabalenka in the final.

The 22-year-old leads the American lineup once again at the French Open, as Gauff faces pressure throughout the clay court season this year.

As well as Gauff, there are 29 other American players confirmed for the French Open this year across both the men’s and women’s singles draws.

30 American players confirmed on the French Open entry list

There are 14 American players confirmed for the women’s singles draw, with Gauff, Jessica Pegula and Amanda Anisimova leading the lineup.

Teenager Iva Jovic will make her second appearance at the French Open this year, while former semifinalist Madison Keys will play the Paris major for the 14th time in her career.

Other than Gauff, the American woman who has achieved the best result at the French Open and is confirmed to return to the tournament this year is 2020 finalist Sofia Kenin, who is currently down at world number 68 after winning just two matches so far this year.

The men’s singles draw at the French Open is confirmed to have at least 16 players, led by Ben Shelton and Taylor Fritz.

However, Fritz’s French Open participation is currently up in the air after suggesting he could skip the clay court season to recover from tendonitis in his knee.

Neither Shelton nor Fritz have reached the quarterfinals of the French Open, which both Tommy Paul and Frances Tiafoe achieved for the first time.

While there will be many familiar returning faces at the French Open, there will also be three American players making their main draw debut this year.

Caty McNally, Zachary Svajda, and Eliot Spizzirri had only reached the second qualifying round at the French Open before, but all three players are confirmed to make their first appearance in the main draw of the clay court major next month.

As well as the 30 American players already confirmed to be in the main draw of the French Open, one ATP and one WTA player from the USA will also receive a wildcard as part of the reciprocal deal, as well as the opportunity for players to come through qualifying.

When did an American man last win the French Open?

Gauff became the first American woman to win the French Open since Serena Williams in 2015 last year, but it has been even longer since an American man won the clay court major.

That came in 1999, when Andre Agassi beat Andrei Medvedev to win the French Open for the first time and subsequently complete the Career Grand Slam.

The closest any American man has come to winning the French Open since then is by reaching the quarterfinals.

Agassi did this again in 2001, 2002 and 2003, while most recently the aforementioned Paul and Tiafoe reached the last-eight in Paris last year.

American players will look to end this drought in 2026, with the French Open main draw getting underway on Sunday, May 24.
