The French Open concluded in dramatic fashion across the ATP and WTA tours, with Carlos Alcaraz and Coco Gauff emerging victorious.
Alcaraz has outmatched Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer after his win at Roland Garros, beating Jannik Sinner in the final.
The ATP number two defeated the world number one in a five-set thriller, with Alcaraz coming from behind to clinch the French Open title.
And the same story had unfolded on the WTA Tour shortly before, when number two Gauff secured a comeback win over Aryna Sabalenka.
But while they tasted success, there were a handful of players who will be hugely disappointed with their runs in Paris.

The three biggest French Open disappointments
Alcaraz and Gauff went all the way in the French capital, but the likes of Sinner and Sabalenka can also hold their heads high.
Semi-finalists Novak Djokovic and Lois Boisson also had tournaments to be proud of, but the same cannot be said of three high-profile names in men’s and women’s tennis.

Alexander Zverev
Alexander Zverev liked his chances of French Open success, which was understandable given his record on clay.
The German reached the final of the 2024 edition, losing to Alcaraz, before suffering the same fate to Sinner at the 2025 Australian Open.

But Zverev, who was the third seed this year, will be disappointed to have lost his quarter-final clash with Djokovic, particularly after taking the first set.
Francisco Cerundolo
Another seeded player at Roland Garros, Francisco Cerundolo would have also been confident of a strong run in Paris.
The Argentine currently occupies a career-high rank of 18th on the ATP Tour, while two of his three career titles have arrived on clay.
But he suffered a disastrous opening round defeat to Gabriel Diallo, with 18th seed Cerundolo losing 5-7, 3-6, 4-6.

Alexandra Eala
A fresh face compared to Zverev and Cerundolo, Alexandra Eala has been making waves on the WTA Tour this season.
She beat Iga Swiatek, Madison Keys, Paula Badosa and Jelena Ostapenko in Miami earlier this season, but failed to repeat those heroics at Roland Garros.
Like Cerundolo, Eala went crashing out of the French Open in round one, losing 0-6, 6-2, 3-6 to Emiliana Arango, although it is worth remembering she is just 20 years old.
