Carlos Alcaraz has been rewarded with more than just the title after winning the US Open.

Alcaraz sent a message to Sinner after beating his rival in four sets to claim his sixth Grand Slam.

The Spaniard has received a huge reaction after his triumph in New York, with Alcaraz even being congratulated by Rafael Nadal.

As well as winning another major title, Alcaraz has also returned to world number one for the first time since September, 2023.

Top 10 in the ATP rankings when Carlos Alcaraz was last world number one

Alcaraz is now beginning his fifth reign as world number one, and his first since he was unable to defend his US Open title in 2023.

While there are four players who remain in the top 10 now after being there back then, there have also been many changes.

Some of the new faces include Ben Shelton, Jack Draper, Alex de Minaur and Lorenzo Musetti.

The person who has progressed the most from this point is Indian Wells champion Draper, who was the world number 123 when Alcaraz was last world number one.

Draper is not the only significant riser, with Shelton also climbing 41 places in the ATP rankings.

Which former top 10 player has fallen the most since September 2023?

Although Sinner has been dethroned from the top of the ATP rankings for the first time since June 2024, he is actually ranked five places higher than he was before the US Open in 2023.

While the likes of Sinner and Taylor Fritz have risen in the top 10 since 2023, there are three players in particular who have suffered significant drops since then.

Stefanos Tsitsipas has actually risen one place in the ATP rankings after this year’s US Open, but he is still 20 places lower than he was ranked on September 10, 2023.

Two of the other big fallers since then are Frances Tiafoe and Daniil Medvedev, who received a hefty fine for his actions in his first round loss at the US Open this year.

Since then, Medvedev has parted ways with his long-term coach and has already brought in Thomas Johannsson to replace him on a trial basis.
