Frances Tiafoe and Madison Keys are two of the American stars looking to impress at Wimbledon this year.

Tiafoe reached the Roland Garros quarter-finals earlier this month, his best ever result at the clay court major.

However, he has been unable to continue this form into the grass court season, with Tiafoe losing his only match at Queen’s ahead of Wimbledon this year.

While Tiafoe’s prospects are unclear ahead of the grass court major, Keys is one of the Wimbledon favourites.

Ahead of Wimbledon this year, top players including Keys have been speaking to media in their pre-tournament press conferences.

With Keys the reigning Australian Open champion, there are now different expectations for the American, who will be the sixth seed at Wimbledon this year.

While they are usually serious, there was a moment of humour during Keys’ pre-tournament press conference when her compatriot Tiafoe interjected.

After crashing the press conference, Tiafoe asked members of the media if Keys was telling them about winning her second Grand Slam.

“The champs are here!” exclaimed Tiafoe. “Is she telling you about how she’s going to get Slam number two here?”

Keys jokingly responded, “Don’t you have somewhere to be? (laughs)”

Madison Keys’ Wimbledon Record

While the two Americans were joking with one another, there will be real eyes on Keys as one of the big Wimbledon favourites.

Keys calls grass her favourite surface, but Wimbledon is actually the only Grand Slam tournament where she is yet to surpass the quarter-finals.

She looked on course to reach a third quarter-final last year, but Keys suffered a heartbreaking injury against Jasmine Paolini that forced her to retire.

Keys will look to improve her Wimbledon record this year, with her first round match against Elena-Gabriela Ruse.

This will be a second time meeting between Keys and Ruse, with the former winning their only previous match en route to winning the Australian Open earlier this year.
