Taylor Fritz has reached his first-ever Grand Slam semi-final after beating Alexander Zverev in the US Open quarter-finals.
Zverev was excited to playing Fritz at the US Open, but the German may not be feeling so warm towards the American after their encounter.
Fritz produced a superb display at Arthur Ashe Stadium, defeating fourth seed Zverev 7-6(7-2), 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(7-3).
The American had only ever reached a Grand Slam quarter-final before the US Open began, but he now has a great chance to go all the way.
Up next, however, is another American star in the form of Frances Tiafoe, who beat Grigor Dimitrov in their quarter-final battle.

But 12th seed Fritz has secured an impressive feat with his win over Zverev, with the former now boasting four ATP Top-10 major wins, the most by an American man in one year since Andre Agassi in 1999, as per ESPN.
Can Taylor Fritz go on to win the US Open?
Zverev won’t want to meet Fritz at a Grand Slam anytime soon, having also lost to the American in the fourth round at Wimbledon earlier this summer.
Fritz had only just overcome US Open eighth seed Casper Ruud in the fourth round, while he beat seventh seed Stefanos Tsitsipas at the Australian Open at the start of the year.

That should give him plenty of confidence ahead of the semi-final meeting with Tiafoe, but he is also a man in form, particularly on the hard courts.
Tiafoe lost the Cincinnati Open final to Jannik Sinner just before the US Open got underway, while at Flushing Meadows he has overcome some top opponents in Dimitrov, Ben Shelton and Canadian Open champion Alexei Popyrin.
American players entered the US Open in fine form, but now just two remain, with Jannik Sinner and Daniil Medvedev meeting in the other semi-final.
