With Nick Kyrgios’ return to tennis feeling imminent, the player-turned-pundit has been attracting attention at this year’s US Open.

Nick Kyrgios has recently been spotted countless times on court, but rather than with racquet in hand, he’s been quizzing his fellow players as a court-side pundit.

Despite recently playing at a UTS (Ultimate Tennis Showdown) event, Kyrgios is still waiting to make his comeback on the ATP tour.

A former Wimbledon singles finalist and Australian Open doubles champion in 2022, Kyrgios has since taken time away from tennis to recover from a wrist injury.

Having commentated over the men’s singles final between Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic, Kyrgios has largely attracted praise for his punditry.

Even actor Ben Stiller has been keen to compliment Kyrgios’ new role, with the charismatic Australian able to bring new insight into the booth.

Jack Sock says he will come out of retirement to play doubles with Nick Kygrios

With the dynamic Australian known for his superb reactions and powerful serve, Kyrgios is seemingly preparing for a quick comeback to the tour.

Kyrgios practiced with Novak Djokovic at Wimbledon and has since looked sharp at the UTS event in August.

Jack Sock, a three-time major doubles champion and former world number eight in singles has reached out to Kyrgios, with the American hinting at a doubles comeback.

Responding to a fan who said: “Nick, I think I what the world really wants is for you two [Sock and Kyrgios] to team up and win one more tournament,” Sock said: ‘Never say never,” before adding, “Down to come back and win a masters or slam whenever you ready just let me know.”

When will Nick Kyrgios be returning to the ATP Tour?

Kyrgios’ last match on the ATP Tour came back in June 2023 at the beginning of the grass court season at the Stuttgart Open.

He took on China’s Wu Yibing in the opening round, but suffered a 7-5, 6-3 defeat and has not played since.

While Kyrgios has fallen out of the men’s rankings while he’s not been playing, he has a protected ranking of 21 and can use this for nine months upon his return to the tour.

Kyrgios’ most recent grand slam appearance was at the 2022 US Open, where he made the quarter-finals two months after he lost to Djokovic in the Wimbledon final.

With an enticing but improbable doubles offer, Kyrgios will likely be aiming to return at the beginning of the 2025 season, with the Australian’s stint on the sidelines likely extending until then.
