Many Wimbledon fans were once again left disappointed by Nick Kyrgios’ absence from the tournament due to injury.

The 2022 All England Club finalist last played a tour-level match in June 2023 due to his ongoing injury issues.

But Kyrgios has revealed he is ‘very close’ to a return to competitive action, with the Australian stepping up his efforts by playing a practice session with Novak Djokovic.

The duo have seemingly put their old rivalry to bed, with Kyrgios and Djokovic exchanging messages on social media after that practice session at SW19.

Fortunately, however, the Australian has managed to make it to London in a media capacity, with Kyrgios commentating at Wimbledon.

And in true Kyrgios fashion, he has now reached out to his followers for any thoughts on his work so far, writing on X: “Also anyone that’s been hearing me on the comms…. Any constructive feedback? I want to get better and give the people what they want.”

Many fans were quick to praise the tennis star, with one user replying: “You are doing great well done Nick.”

A second wrote: “You are refreshing to listen to. My advice always speak your truth contrary to what broadcast standard is and everyone will always enjoy it.”

A third said: “You’re doing an awesome job Nick, speaking your truth and from the heart is always the right way. Hopefully we here in Australia have the opportunity again to listen to you.”

A fourth commented: “Keep being you bro! Little bit more banter never hurt anyone and brings some more energy and entertainment!”

Another user wrote: “You’ve been excellent so far Nick. Any chance you and Ash can be co commentators in a match. Have absolutely loved listening to her on the women’s side of the tournament.”

Others commented: “Smashing it Nick!” and “You are a natural. Thoroughly enjoying your commentaries.”

Another user said: “You’ve killed it mate, it’s been so refreshing having something different on the broadcasts.”

Wimbledon fans will want Nick Kyrgios back playing

Kyrgios is undoubtedly one of the most controversial figures in tennis, but fans have been taken aback by his efforts at Wimbledon.

They will, however, much rather see him take to the famous grass courts at SW19, particularly after he went so close in his last appearance.

Kyrgios reached his first ever Grand Slam singles final at Wimbledon 2022, but lost 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 7-6(7-3) to Djokovic.

The Australian then reached the US Open quarter-finals, but has been largely out of action since then due to knee and wrist problems.

The larger than life figure will be eyeing a comeback to the sport as soon as possible, but for now he has to settle for a position off the court.
