Jack Draper has taken 2024 by storm, with the British number one having just won his first ATP 500 title.

Draper received congratulations from Jannik Sinner after lifting the Vienna Open trophy, having won an ATP 250 event in Stuttgart earlier in the year.

Following his latest success, Draper has moved to 15th in the ATP rankings, a career-high for the 22-year-old.

The Briton defeated Karen Khachanov in the final of the Vienna Open, with the former beating the latter 6-4, 7-5.

After a scintillating first set performance, Draper was certainly made to work in the second, but eventually emerged victorious after one hour and 35 minutes.

Patrick Mouratoglou makes Jack Draper ATP rankings prediction

His display seemingly caught the eye of world number one Sinner, but also coach Patrick Mouratoglou, who has recently partnered with Naomi Osaka.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said of the Briton: “If he manages to stay injury-free then I think he’s definitely a top-10 player and a player that has huge weapons and potentially has no limits.”

Mouratoglou also discussed just how far Draper has come in recent times, with the 22-year-old having been ranked just inside the top 100 not long ago.

The Briton is now gradually climbing the ranks, helped by impressive wins over top-10 players in recent events.

Draper has overcome the likes of Carlos Alcaraz, Alex de Minaur and Hubert Hurkacz this season, with further top-10 wins likely in the coming months.

And according to Mouratoglou, a lot of the recent success has come down to one improvement in particular.

“I feel that his backhand is much better,” he added. “Before, his backhand was not hurting the opponent much. I saw him play in Vienna, and I thought he’s taking the ball much earlier with the backhand, and he can hit the ball full, taking the ball early.

“So he can hurt players a lot with his backhand that is quite flat. And I feel he has a clear game plan. His game plan, the way he should play, his style is very, very clear now, which was not that obvious before.

“He’s very solid and he’s very disciplined in what he’s doing. But I think that’s a major improvement he’s made this year.”
