Jack Draper has secured his first ATP 500 title after beating Karen Khachanov in the Vienna Open final.

Draper was delighted to reach the Vienna Open final, having made the last two after a fine semi-final win over Lorenzo Musetti.

It represented the first ATP 500 final for the Briton, with his opponent Khachanov in the very same situation.

The latter impressively beat second seed Alex de Minaur to set up the final meeting with Draper, with the pair playing out an exciting battle.

But it was the British number one who emerged victorious, holding off Khachanov to win 6-4, 7-5 in one hour and 35 minutes.

Karen Khachanov makes ‘PlayStation’ claim after Vienna Open loss to Jack Draper

Khachanov produced a spirited fightback when he was 0-4 down in the second set in Vienna, winning five consecutive games.

But Draper found his feet once more to come out on top, with his early efforts really impressing Khachanov.

“I felt like I was playing the PlayStation at the beginning,” he said of Draper, as quoted by Sky Sports. “I played here, he played there. No chance!”

Jack Draper to move into ATP top 15 after Vienna Open win

Draper now has two tour-level titles to his name at the age of 22, having won the Stuttgart Open earlier this year.

He also reached his first Grand Slam semi-final last month, enjoying a superb run before losing to eventual champion Jannik Sinner.

Draper has battled injury and form since then, but he was back to his very best this week at the Vienna Open.

The British number one brought an end to Khachanov’s eight-match winning streak, with the latter having only just one the Almaty Open.

Draper will now break the ATP top 15 for the very first time in his career, and heads into the Paris Masters full of confidence.
