Novak Djokovic has reached yet another Wimbledon quarter-final, having beaten Holger Rune in round four.

The seven-time champion has made a remarkable recovery since withdrawing from the French Open last month.

Djokovic needed surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his knee, with the Serbian one of eight big-name players to have been a doubt for Wimbledon given the issue.

He has not only recovered in time, but is making a real challenge for the title, winning his latest match in straight sets.

Djokovic also overcame Vit Kopriva in straight sets in round one, with four set wins over Jacob Fearnley and Alexei Popyrin coming in rounds two and three respectively.

Novak Djokovic reveals ‘strange’ issue vs Holger Rune at Wimbledon

The 24-time Grand Slam winner now faces Alex de Minaur in the last eight, with the latter having beaten Arthur Fils in round four.

Djokovic has now issued an update on his current state, with the world number two having slipped on the court multiple times during the match.

“I am personally feeling good, the knee has been really, really good, so I did not react negatively to those few slips that I had today,” Djokovic said in his fourth round press conference. “But it was quite odd and strange that it happened in the same game, three times I slipped.

“I haven’t been slipping as much as I would normally slip on grass over the years, I was not falling as much. So I have been pretty pleased with that.

“It is probably part of my different kind of movement on the court that I have been experimenting with because of the knee and everything that was happening prior to the tournament.

“The first couple of rounds I was maybe not willing to go to extreme balls and slide and make splits, but the last two matches I have done it and today I had a couple of splits and nothing hurt me, so I’m really glad that’s on a positive note.”

Novak Djokovic addresses the Wimbledon weather

Once again, Wimbledon has been impacted by poor weather, with rain ensuring many delays and many matches being played under the roof.

Many top stars have shared their opinions on the conditions throughout the event, with Taylor Fritz saying UK tournaments can be ‘miserable’ due to the wind.

Emma Raducanu meanwhile admitted she prefers playing with a roof on, with Djokovic now sharing his thoughts on the issue.

“Once you closed the roof – and it feels like we have been playing an indoor grass court tournament more than an outdoor one – I have played almost every match indoors,” Djokovic added.

“We are blessed to have the roof don’t get me wrong, particularly on the two big courts, because on the outside courts the matches aren’t played and I feel the frustration of the players, because you get interrupted many times. But it’s not something you can affect, if the rain is there it’s there.

“And once you close the roof you know the grass is going to be more slippery, so there is more chances players will fall.”
