Taylor Fritz is among a select group of Americans who are really enjoying themselves on the grass court right now.

He has just witnessed compatriot Sebastian Korda lose in the final of the Libema Open, with Tommy Paul going one step further at Queen’s.

The UK tennis season is now in full swing, with the flagship event now well underway at the All England Club.

And Wimbledon has already had a major American casualty, with Korda losing his first round meeting with Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.

Fritz is, however, safely through to the second round, having defeated Christopher O’Connell in round one.

Taylor Fritz makes ‘miserable’ claim as Wimbledon starts

The American emerged victorious against the Australian in London, with the world number 12 winning 6-1, 6-2, 6-4.

But it isn’t all fun and games for Fritz when it comes to playing in UK tournaments, who has one major issue with such competitions.

When asked what he dislikes most about playing tennis in the UK, Fritz told BBC Sport: “I’d say just randomly the weather.

“I don’t care if it rains and stuff, but it can be so windy sometimes in a lot of the tournaments we’ve played. It’s just miserable playing when it’s windy.”

Taylor Fritz predicted to go far at Wimbledon after Eastbourne success

Fritz has made it as far as the quarter-final stage in three of the four Grand Slams, with a fourth round spot his best finish at the French Open.

That was secured on the clay of Roland Garros last month, where the 26-year-old lost to seventh seed Casper Ruud.

Since then, however, like compatriot Paul at Queen’s, Fritz has tasted success, winning his third Rothesay International championship in Eastbourne last week.

After becoming the first man ever to win the competition on three separate occasions, tennis icon Andy Roddick has now predicted Fritz to reach the semi-finals at Wimbledon.

Fritz’s fellow professional Nick Kyrgios meanwhile has tipped the American to be a dark horse at the Grand Slam, which has already been disrupted by poor weather in the early stages.
