Nick Kyrgios has not played a Grand Slam tournament since the Australian Open.

Kyrgios has struggled with injuries since 2022, the same year that he reached the Wimbledon final.

The former world number 13 has not played a match since July, but Kyrgios was confirmed to return at the Brisbane International.

As a result, there has been a lot of speculation around whether Kyrgios would receive an Australian Open wildcard, and there has now been a big hint as to whether this could happen.

Nick Kyrgios now looks very likely to receive an Australian Open wildcard

The Australian Open has announced their initial wildcards for the 2026 tournament, leaving just three remaining for the main draw.

Kyrgios getting an Australian Open wildcard has split opinion, but it now seems very likely that he will.

The Australian Open has just released their qualifying entry list, which has some notable omissions including former champions.

There are also 12 Australian players in this list, including Jordan Thompson, Bernard Tomic and Alex Bolt.

With these players yet to receive wildcards, it now seems likely that Kyrgios will be given one of the remaining three.

Kyrgios is also playing an exhibition event in the week of Australian Open qualifying, which gets underway on January 12.

Another likely contender for a wildcard is former champion Stan Wawrinka, who has announced he will retire in 2026.

I have a lot of respect for Nick Kyrgios and his talent, but make no mistake, I’m ready to bring my A-game.

Aryna Sabalenka

I’ve never backed down from a challenge, and I’m not just here to play; I’m here to entertain. This is what I live for.

Nick Kyrgios

What is in this for women’s tennis? Nick Kyrgios, unless he is really hurt and can’t run at all, he is going to win this match so easily.

Rennae Stubbs

I think this whole thing is ridiculous. I’m not going to watch a second of it, to be honest.
