Nick Kyrgios is back on court after spending most of 2025 sidelined with injuries.
The 2022 Wimbledon finalist returned recently and has been playing several exhibition matches in the United States.
Playing in the ‘Garden Cup’, alongside Tommy Paul, Naomi Osaka, and Aryna Sabalenka, Kyrgios entertained fans at one of the world’s most iconic venues, Madison Square Garden.
He’ll also compete in another blockbuster exhibition later this month, as Kyrgios and Sabalenka prepare to do battle in a ‘Battle of the Sexes’ match in Dubai.
What will the impact on women’s tennis be if Nick Kyrgios wins easily?
But sooner rather than later, Kyrgios will surely turn his attention to the ATP Tour and competitive tennis.
With the Australian Open right around the corner, perhaps the 30-year-old will make his 11th career appearance at his home Grand Slam.

He won’t, however, qualify with his current ranking (672nd), so he will need a Wild Card…
Craig Tiley says we’ll have to ‘wait and see’ if Nick Kyrgios gets an Australian Open Wild Card
During the latest episode of ‘The Tennis‘, Australian Open tournament director Craig Tiley was asked the following question by host Xavier Muhlebach.
“We’ve got star players, tell me, wild cards, Nick Kyrgios?” he asked.
Tiley issued the following response, leaving fans guessing as to whether they’ll see Kyrgios next year.
“I don’t know, we’ll have to wait and see,” he said.
“But he’s playing, which is good, he’s been playing events leading in, and I know he wants to play in the Summer.

“So if he wants to play in the Summer, it means he wants to play the Australian Open, but there’s still a lot of water that needs to go under the bridge.
“I think he’s beyond the period of a protected ranking, so he’s going to need a wild card to play as far as I’m concerned.”
Kyrgios entered this year’s Australian Open with his protected ranking, taking on Great Britain’s Jacob Fearnley in the first round.
Who will be the biggest disappointment at the 2026 Australian Open?
Unfortunately for Kyrgios, he came up short in straight sets, 6-7, 3-6, 6-7.
He’ll surely be hoping for a better showing in 2026, but how well has he performed at the Australian Open over the years?
Nick Kyrgios’ Grand Slam record
Kyrgios has enjoyed success in Melbourne throughout his career, but it hasn’t been his best Grand Slam event…
| Grand Slam | Best performance | Latest performance | Win/Loss record | Win % |
| Australian Open | QF – 2015 | 1R – 2025 | 17-10 | 63% |
| French Open | 3R – 2015, 2016 | 2R – 2017 | 5-5 | 50% |
| Wimbledon | F – 2022 | F – 2022 | 20-8 | 71% |
| US Open | QF – 2022 | QF – 2022 | 12-9 | 57% |
He’s won more matches at Wimbledon (20) than he has at his home tournament, the Australian Open (17).
That’s not to say he hasn’t impressed down under, however, as Kyrgios has picked up some mightily impressive wins since making his debut in 2014.
