Nick Kyrgios has been involved in plenty of tennis ahead of the Australian Open returning to the calendar.
Australian ace Kyrgios ββjust played at the Garden Cup in Madison Square Garden, and has another intriguing test lined up for later this month.
Kyrgios will take on Aryna Sabalenka in Dubai, in what is a remake of the original Battle of the Sexes exhibition from 1973.
And 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Kyrgios will play at the Kooyong Classic exhibition in January, signalling his intentions to play at the Australian Open.

Many tennis fans agree that Nick Kyrgios doesnβt deserve Australian Open wildcard
Tournament director Craig Tiley thinks Kyrgios needs a wildcard to play at the Australian Open, which returns next month.
And many tennis fans have quickly made their feelings clear on whether the ATP number 672 deserves a wildcard in Melbourne, with one writing simply on X: βNope.β
And along with a handful of βNoβ comments, another who delved into more detail said: βHas done absolutely nothing to deserve one. Iβd be giving one to Dane Sweeny or James McCabe.β
Who will be the biggest disappointment at the 2026 Australian Open?
Another fan wrote: β3+ years of ATP competitive inactivity should suggest heβs not fit to leapfrog others to a wildcard.β
And another agreed: βAbsolutely not. There are far more deserving players who are grinding day in and day out.
βHowever, there is no doubt in my mind that this is less about what is deserved and fair, but more about ticket sales and audience ratings, alas.β

Australian Open organisers have a dilemma on their hands with Nick Kyrgios
It will be intriguing to see what decision the Australian Open take with Kyrgios, who is very much a divisive player.
As many of his previous career efforts have done, the controversial figure is currently attracting huge attention for his upcoming clash with Sabalenka.
Heβs also loved by many Australian fans, who could head to Melbourne Park in big numbers to catch a glimpse of the talented player in action.
Who will win the 2026 Australian Open?
And while he disappointingly fell in the first round in the 2025 edition, he does have a 2022 Australian Open doubles title to his name.
There could, however, be plenty of criticism going the way of the tournament itself should Kyrgios be given a wildcard over someone arguably more deserving.
