Jack Draper is still flying high off the court despite missing the latest ATP action on it because of injury.

Draper withdrew from the Shanghai Masters due to an abdominal issue, having retired hurt from his Japan Open meeting with Ugo Humbert due to that injury.

British number one Draper was forced to end their quarter-final clash last month early, having been losing 5-7, 1-2 to the Frenchman.

Clearly playing through injury, the retirement came after impressive Japan Open wins over Mattia Bellucci and Hubert Hurkacz.

It was his first individual tournament following his fantastic US Open run, where the Briton reached the semi-finals.

Jack Draper sets new personal record despite missing Shanghai Masters

But unfortunately he has been limited in his ability to push on from that stunning Flushing Meadows journey, which was brought to an end by eventual champion Jannik Sinner.

The lack of action since then, however, has not slowed down his rise, with Draper now up to 19th place in the ATP rankings, a new career high.

How far can Jack Draper go in the ATP rankings?

Draper has already followed in the footsteps of fellow Briton Andy Murray in reaching the British number one spot.

But perhaps now the goal will be to emulate the Scottish legend in making it all the way to the top spot in the ATP rankings, which is of course much easier said than done.

The 22-year-old is, however, going about things the right way, recently enjoying his lengthiest Grand Slam venture.

But the sport’s biggest stars remain some way away, with the new ATP top 10 confirmed after the Shanghai Masters.

US Open champion Sinner has stayed in pole position after winning the Shanghai Masters, with the Italian defeating Serbian veteran Novak Djokovic in straight sets.

The world number one has also extended his lead in the Race to Turin rankings, with British number one Draper sitting in 17th place.
