The 2024 ATP Finals are well underway, with Jannik Sinner and Taylor Fritz already qualified for the semi-finals.
This year’s edition of the ATP Finals has started brilliantly, with several exciting games taking place in the group stages so far.
Jannik Sinner qualified for the semi-finals with a perfect record in the Ilie Nastase group, as he looks to win his home tournament for the first time in his career.

He will be joined in the last four by Taylor Fritz, who qualified for the semi-finals with wins over Daniil Medvedev and Alex de Minaur.
Alternatively, in the John Newcombe group, Carlos Alcaraz has struggled with illness but will head into his final group game with a chance to qualify for the semis.
Alexander Zverev has also impressed, winning his opening two matches in Turin, as he looks to win the tournament for the third time in his career.
The 2024 ATP Finals field is missing a big name however, as Novak Djokovic withdrew from the tournament, as he continues to recover from a recent injury.
It is still an impressive group of players competing in Turin this year, but one tennis legend is now tipping a 20-year-old star to qualify for next season’s tournament.
Jim Courier thinks ‘explosive’ Arthur Fils could qualify for 2025 ATP Finals
Speaking in his 2024 season review, former four-time Grand Slam champion Jim Courier made his predictions on who he thinks will qualify for the 2025 ATP Finals.
“As far as next year goes, I think I am quite confident it won’t be the same eight players,” he said.
The 54-year-old went on to say who he thinks might make their debut in Turin next year.
“I think you might see someone like Arthur Fils there, he is [number] 20 in the world right now,” said Courier.
“The guy has explosive power.
“We’ll see.”
The Frenchman has enjoyed a fantastic season on the ATP Tour this year, as Fils became the most successful player at ATP 500’s in 2024.
Fils won the Hamburg Open and Tokyo Open this year, as he rose to a career-high of 20th in the world.
Is Arthur Fils the next big thing on the ATP Tour?
Fils’ 2024 season has got a lot of fans talking, with many expecting the 20-year-old to kick on and achieve great things on the ATP Tour.
Already ranked in the top 20 before his 21st birthday, there is real potential for Fils to go even further in 2025.
But what has he achieved so far in his young career?
| Result | Tournament | Tier | Opponent |
| Win | 2023 Lyon Open | ATP 250 | Francisco Cerundolo |
| Loss | 2023 Antwerp Open | ATP 250 | Alexander Bublik |
| Win | 2024 Hamburg Open | ATP 500 | Alexander Zverev |
| Win | 2024 Japan Open | ATP 500 | Ugo Humbert |
The youngster has already won three ATP titles, an impressive feat at just 20 years old.
Fils has yet to reach the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam however, no doubt a big goal for his 2025 season.
He has won a number of matches against top-ten opposition, which could well give him the confidence to make a big ranking jump next year.
| Name | Rank | Tournament | Round |
| Casper Ruud | 4 | 2023 Hamburg Open | QF |
| Stefanos Tsitsipas | 7 | 2023 Antwerp Open | SF |
| Hubert Hurkacz | 7 | 2024 Wimbledon | 2R |
| Alexander Zverev | 4 | 2024 Hamburg Open | F |
| Taylor Fritz | 7 | 2024 Japan Open | 1R |
If Fils can continue to achieve success against top ten opponents in 2025, Courier’s prediction could well come true, with the Frenchman a good shout to qualify for the ATP Finals in Turin.
The 2024 ATP Finals continue on Friday, with Alcaraz facing off against Zverev and Casper Ruud playing Andrey Rublev for a place in the semi-finals.
