Jakub Mensik is really enjoying himself at the Miami Open, with Jack Draper his latest victim at the ATP Masters 1000 event.

Mensik loved his battle with Draper, with the former winning his second round meeting with the latter 7-6(7-2), 7-6(7-3).

Currently 54th in the ATP rankings, Mensik has been backed to become world number one, a spot currently occupied by Jannik Sinner.

Due to his ban, Sinner is not competing at the Miami Open, but Mensik now finds himself taking on Roman Safiullin in round three.

He enters the match on the back of an upset against sixth seed and Indian Wells champion Draper, having beaten Roberto Bautista Agut in round one.

“Jack has been playing incredibly the last weeks, months. I knew that it was an opportunity for me, so I took it.”

They were the sixth and first seeds respectively, with Mensik showing no mercy despite his youth and inexperience.

Intriguingly, the Czech ace isn’t alone with his impressive displays, with his fellow NextGen ATP Finals stars Joao Fonseca, Learner Tien and Arthur Fils all catching the eye lately.
