Carlos Alcaraz was congratulated by Iga Swiatek after claiming his very first French Open title.

24 hours after winning her fourth Roland Garros crown in five years, the Pole reacted to the latest achievement in the career of the 21-year-old Spaniard.

He was faced with the task of defeating Alexander Zverev who was aiming to win the first Grand Slam of his career.

Despite going down two sets to one, the Spaniard showed his mental strength to turn the tables and complete his second successive five-set victory to win the tournament.

Alcaraz rose above the adversity he faced against Zverev to complete a 6-3 2-6 5-7 6-1 6-2 in four hours and 19 minutes.

In the process he became the first player in the open era to win his first three Grand Slam titles on three different surfaces.

Not only did the likes of Rafael Nadal take to social media to congratulate the Spaniard, but Swiatek also used X to send her best wishes to Alcaraz after he joined her as the 2024 French Open champion.

“Amazing work @carlosalcaraz, congrats!” wrote the World number one, who defeated Jasmine Paolini to win her fifth Grand Slam title.

How did Iga Swiatek win the 2024 French Open?

After narrowly escaping a loss to Naomi Osaka in the second round of the French Open, Swiatek went into overdrive.

She conceded a combined total of just 17 games in the following five matches against Marie Bouzková, Anastasia Potapova, Markéta Vondroušová, Coco Gauff and Paolini on the way to winning her fourth Roland Garros title in five years.

She also became the first woman since Serena Williams to win a Grand Slam three years in a row and win the Madrid, Rome and French Open titles in the same season.

“It was an emotional win, because I felt a lot of stress yesterday and today in the morning,” Swairek said on Saturday.

“And I knew if I’m going to just focus on tennis I can kind of fight through it, and at the end it all went how I wanted. So I just felt really proud of myself.”
