Iga Swiatek has stormed into the quarter-finals of the US Open, where she takes on home favourite Jessica Pegula.
Swiatek is working hard on her touch, but so far it has been near-perfect at the US Open at Flushing Meadows, New York.
She is yet to drop a set at the fourth and final major of the year, although her next opponent Pegula boasts the same record.
Pegula loves her US Open support, with the American having beaten the likes of Diana Shnaider and Sofia Kenin on her way to the quarter-finals.
Swiatek meanwhile has overcome the likes of 16th seed Liudmila Samsonova as she seeks a second Grand Slam of 2024.

Iga Swiatek makes Jessica Pegula claim ahead of their US Open match
The Pole won the French Open earlier this summer, in between third round finishes at the Australian Open and French Open.
She won the US Open title meanwhile back in 2022, a tournament in which she defeated Pegula in the quarter-finals.

As quoted by The Tennis Letter, Swiatek has now previewed their upcoming clash, saying: “We played here two years ago. Playing against Jessica it’s never easy. Pretty tricky game style.
“You have to work low on your legs and be ready for long rallies but also some intense hitting. She’s a great player so for sure it’s going to be a challenge.”
Can Jessica Pegula upset Iga Swiatek at the US Open?
Swiatek can certainly use that 2022 US Open meeting with Pegula for guidance this time around, although the latter has stepped up her game since then.
The Pole was the first seed back then, and is once again the top seed this time around, with the American now seeded sixth as opposed to eighth.

The 2022 quarter-final win is also a great omen for Swiatek, who went on to lift the trophy, having also won the French Open that year.
Pegula will undoubtedly have the backing of the US Open crowd, which she can use to her advantage to get an edge over the world number one.
Both players should be more than up for the encounter, and should both be fresh given their rapid journeys to this stage of the competition.
