Iga Swiatek shared which aspect of her game she is trying to improve as she goes in search of a second US Open title.
After dominating the clay court season, the World number one is back on hard courts and is keen to have more success at Flushing Meadows.
The 23-year-old is less dominant away from her beloved clay but she is still a significant threat on the concrete and is a top contender for the US Open, a title she won in 2022.
The Pole will need to make some adjustments from the European dirt to the slick American cement, but it is something she is working hard on in training.
What is Iga Swiatek trying to improve on in training?
Iga Swiatek has been World number one for all but eight weeks since she first reached the top of the WTA rankings in April 2022.
One of the reasons Swiatek has been dominant for so long is her ability to keep improving her game.
Ahead of her next US Open campaign, Swiatek, the Olympic bronze medallist, outlined exactly which shots she is paying most attention to as she tries to refine her game and increase her level.
“Honestly the best motivation that I can get is actually getting better at some stuff on court like my touch, I’m working a lot on that,” she said during a Q&A for her racket manufacturer Tecnifibre.
“And with my serve, I changed my service moment this year so I’m still working on it, but in tennis you kind of have to work on everything.”

Who is Iga Swiatek playing at the US Open?
Swiatek will commence her 2024 US Open campaign against qualifier Kamilla Rakhimova. The pair have yet to play each other and their first round contest will take place inside Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Swiatek entered the 2023 US Open with plenty of pressure and expectation on her shoulders due to her fabulous and record-breaking 2022 campaign which included lifting the title at Flushing Meadows.
She suffered a shock fourth-round exit to Jelena Ostapenko last year, but Swiatek has adopted a new mindset ahead of this year’s US Open.
“I’m not really thinking about rankings and points that much because last year I thought about a lot at the US Open, and it was a lot of baggage on my shoulders,” she said.
“So I’m trying to just focus on being a better player when I have time to practice and that’s the best motivation I would say.”
