Holger Rune shares latest update on his Achilles injury as he makes progress

Holger Rune has provided the latest update on his Achilles injury, three weeks after it happened at the Stockholm Open.

Rune left the court in tears in Stockholm, after pulling up during his semifinal match against Ugo Humbert.

It was suspected that this injury was going to be serious for the Dane, and shortly after Rune confirmed he had fully broken his Achilles.

Rune has since undergone surgery on his Achilles, and he has now provided another update on his situation.

Holger Rune provides new update on his Achilles injury

There have been many comments on Rune’s injury, with people concerned about the current world number 15.

With the large interest in how his recovery is going, Rune continues to provide updates on social media and he has done so again in another post on X (formerly known as Twitter).

In this post, Rune revealed that he is now able to travel on planes again, and explained that he is looking ahead positively.

“Green light to fly again. Off to Monaco,” wrote Rune. “Thank you to everyone in helping me through the first weeks more than grateful.

“I miss tennis badly but I don’t feel depressed or sad. My focus is solely on getting stronger than ever and I can’t wait to see you all again on court . First chapter of rehab closed, next opens #comebackloading.”

Many people including his former coach Boris Becker have offered Rune advice, and now some tennis fans have also said a similar thing to the 22-year-old.

Lots of tennis fans on social media wished Rune a smooth recovery, with some also telling him to be patient and not rush back to the match court.

One wrote, “Happy to see you recovering fastly…Take your time and don’t push hard on yourself…”

Another echoed the same sentiment, “Stay calm, don’t rush back.”

One other social media user wrote, “Great news, we can’t wait to see you on the courts Holger.”

“Good to hear! Staying positive is very important.”

“You have a great attitude Holger, wishing you a smooth recovery.”

While it is not yet clear how long Rune will be out of action, it is suspected that he will miss at least the Australian Open, the French Open and Wimbledon next year.

There will likely be lots of interest in Rune releasing more updates, as he continues his recovery process from the worst setback of his career so far.
