Carlos Alcaraz is already eyeing up his next big title after winning the Australian Open for the first time.

Alcaraz beat Novak Djokovic to win the Australian Open, enabling him to become the youngest man in history to complete the Career Grand Slam.

This is also the first tournament and Grand Slam title since he split from Juan Carlos Ferrero, who sent Alcaraz a message after his Australian Open win.

Alcaraz has already put himself alongside the greats in tennis history and it would be completely understandable if he lost some motivation, but that appears to be far from the case.

Carlos Alcaraz names the three tournaments he wants to win after the Australian Open

Following his seventh major title win at the Australian Open, there have been suggestions that Alcaraz could break Djokovic’s Grand Slam record in the future.

That does not appear to be on Alcaraz’s mind at the moment, as he told Spanish news outlet El Mundo about his future motivations.

Who finishes their career on more majors – Alcaraz or Djokovic?

Only two men have completed the Career Grand Slam twice, but Alcaraz has the opportunity to do that at the Australian Open next year at just 23 years old.

Alcaraz also spoke about wanting to win the three Masters 1000 titles he is yet to win in Canada, Shanghai and Paris, as well as the ATP Finals, before particularly highlighting the Davis Cup as a big goal of his.

“I think that next year here in Australia, I could complete the four Grand Slams twice and also be the youngest to do it,” said Alcaraz. “There’s always something. Things always come up that keep you ambitious.

“The big tournaments always motivate me, and there are several Masters 1000s that I’d like to win at least once. There are also the ATP Finals and, above all, the Davis Cup. The Davis Cup is a tournament I love; I really enjoy playing for Spain, and I’d love to have it in my trophy cabinet.”

Alcaraz withdrew from the Davis Cup Finals last year due to injury, as Spain finished as runners-up.

Carlos Alcaraz responds when asked if he is worried about getting carried away with his success

Alcaraz has received huge recognition from both within tennis and outside of it for his latest accomplishment at the Australian Open.

At just 22 years old, it would be unsurprising if Alcaraz got carried away with his success, but the Murcian appears to have his feet firmly rooted on the ground.

“The truth is, no,” Alcaraz responded when asked if he is getting carried away with his success. “I know exactly where I stand, where I’m from, who my people are, and nobody’s going to change that.

“If ever, for whatever reason, I make a mistake, I have my family and my people. If they have to give me a wake-up call to bring me back down to earth, they will. They’re the ones who have always been there for me since I was a kid, and they’re the ones who truly know me.”

Alcaraz has already made a big decision since winning the Australian Open, with the world number one electing not to defend his title at the Rotterdam Open next week.

Following his withdrawal from the tournament in Rotterdam, Alcaraz’s next scheduled tournament is at the Qatar Open, where Jannik Sinner and Djokovic are also entered.

The ATP 500 tournament in Doha, where Alcaraz lost to Jiri Lehecka last year, will get underway on Monday, February 16.
