Andy Murray and Casper Ruud have exchanged messages after the latter beat Gael Monfils in the US Open.
Murray reacted as Dan Evans won the longest match in US Open history, beating Karen Khachanov in five hours and 35 minutes in round one.
Ruud also emerged victorious from a Flushing Meadows thriller, overcoming Monfils 6-4, 6-2, 2-6, 7-6(7-3) in the second round.
The Norwegian now faces China’s Shang Juncheng in round three, with Ruud the eighth seed at the US Open in the men’s singles.
He was, however, forced to see off a determined Monfils in Queens, with the Frenchman producing some stunning shots as usual.

But he is clearly keeping tabs on the sport that he gave so much time and effort to, with his efforts over the years certainly appreciated by the current stars.
Ruud obviously enjoyed watching the three-time Grand Slam champion, but Emma Raducanu says tennis doesn’t feel different without Murray.
She did, of course, upset many tennis fans earlier this summer with her decision to withdraw from the Wimbledon mixed doubles event with the Scottish legend.
US Open fans will undoubtedly be missing the gliding of Murray across the hard court, with his moves helping him win his first Grand Slam title in 2012.
