Alexandra Eala has received another boost after playing at the Abu Dhabi Open.

Eala is one of the most popular players on the WTA Tour, which was showcased once again in Abu Dhabi by the number of supporters coming to specifically watch her.

This appears to be helping the Filipina’s tennis, with Eala enjoying a breakthrough season in 2025.

Eala reached a ranking milestone after the Australian Open, and she has now gone on to better this once again after reaching the Abu Dhabi Open quarterfinals.

Alexandra Eala reached career-high ranking after the Abu Dhabi Open

Although she received a career-high ranking after the Australian Open, Eala actually lost in the first round of the tournament.

Since then, Eala has gone on to reach the quarterfinals of both her home WTA 125 event in Manila and the WTA 500 tournament in Abu Dhabi.

However, this nearly did not happen in Abu Dhabi, as Eala found herself 4-0 and match point down in the deciding set of her second round match against Aliaksandra Sasnovich.

After producing an almighty comeback to beat Sasnovich, Eala has subsequently risen five places in the rankings up to a career-high of world number 40.

Eala is now just eight ranking places away from being seeded for Grand Slam tournaments and some of the bigger WTA 1000 events.

As she looks to continue moving towards that goal, Eala will now make her debut at the Qatar Open, with a first round match against talented Czech teenager Tereza Valentova.

Eala is not the only player to have risen to a career-high in the latest WTA rankings update, with the Abu Dhabi Open champion the biggest riser this week.

Sara Bejlek won her first WTA title after beating Ekaterina Alexandrova in the final, and she has now climbed a huge 63 places up to world number 38.

Emma Raducanu receives big boost after reaching first final in five years

While she has not reached a career-high ranking, it has also been an important week for Emma Raducanu.

Raducanu reached her first final since winning the US Open at the WTA 250 tournament in Cluj-Napoca.

However, the Briton could not go all the way and win the title, with Raducanu beaten by Sorana Cirstea in the final.

Despite not claiming the title, Raducanu has now risen five places up the rankings to now be placed at world number 24.

This is Raducanu’s highest ranking since August 2022, as she now looks to move back towards the top 20.

Raducanu is now expected to compete at the Qatar Open, where she will play Camila Osorio in the first round.

Like Eala, Raducanu has a significant amount of ranking points to defend at the upcoming Miami Open, so will want to ease that pressure before the tournament comes around next month.
