Emma Raducanu has continued her title drought after losing in the final of the Transylvania Open.

Raducanu reached her first final since winning the US Open in 2021 at the WTA 250 tournament in Cluj-Napoca.

The 23-year-old was looking to win her first title in over five years at the Transylvania Open, but Raducanu was beaten by Sorana Cirstea.

While Raducanu is still yet to win a title since her Grand Slam win, there is actually another player who has gone longer without a WTA tournament win than the Brit.

Bianca Andreescu has the longest WTA title drought of any active Grand Slam champion

It has been 229 weeks since Raducanu’s dream run to the US Open title, with the Briton playing 63 tournaments in that time without winning a title.

This is significantly more than some other Grand Slam champions, with Barbora Krejcikova winning another title in just her second tournament after lifting the 2021 French Open title.

Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff and Sofia Kenin also took only three tournaments to win a title after their first Grand Slam victory.

While most have been able to continue their success a lot quicker than Raducanu, there is one other active Grand Slam champion who has yet to win another WTA title since.

Bianca Andreescu won the US Open in 2019, beating Serena Williams in the final to become the first Canadian in history to win a Grand Slam singles title.

This is not the only WTA title Andreescu has won in her career, having also claimed victory at Indian Wells and the Canadian Open prior to the US Open.

However, Andreescu has not been able to win another title since then, despite being in three finals.

Miami Open 2021Ash Barty beat Andreescu, 6-3 4-0 (Andreescu retired)
Bad Homburg Open 2022Caroline Garcia beat Andreescu, 6(5)-7 6-4 6-4
Rosmalen Open 2024Liudmila Samsonova beat Andreescu, 4-6 6-3 7-5

This means that it has now been 334 weeks since Andreescu won the US Open without lifting another WTA title.

Andreescu has faced many injury struggles during this time, so she has only been able to play 65 WTA tournaments in the past seven years.

However, after Andreescu chose not to play Australian Open qualifying, she instead played some lower-level ITF events and claimed titles in Bradenton and Vero Beach.

Who is the only other active major champion who has not won another title since?

Alongside Raducanu and Andreescu, there is only one other Grand Slam champion who has failed to win another title since their maiden major victory.

That person is Madison Keys, who won the Australian Open last year after beating Aryna Sabalenka in the final.

Over a year on from her victory in Melbourne, Keys is still yet to add to her trophy collection.

Keys has 10 career titles to her name, but she has not even reached a final in the 54 weeks since she lifted the Australian Open title.

The next opportunity she will get to change this is at the Dubai Tennis Championships, but after Keys withdrew from the Qatar Open her participation is currently in doubt.
