The 2024 season in men’s tennis has come to a close after a thrilling year of action that saw several big names impress.
From the Australian Open in January to the Davis Cup Finals in December, the stars of tennis shone bright and wowed fans with their quality.
The ATP Tour saw some of their biggest names do what they do best, whilst some surprising talents showed what they can do at various points of the year.
But which men’s tennis player was the best in each month of 2024?
The best player on the ATP Tour for each month of 2024
January – Jannik Sinner
Jannik Sinner won the Australian Open in January, as he took home his maiden Grand Slam title against Daniil Medvedev in a five-set classic.
The Italian did more than enough to prove his talents during the first month of the year, taking down ten-time champion Novak Djokovic, and Russian star Andrey Rublev on his way to the title.
Alexander Zverev was another to impress in January as he played an integral role in Germany’s United Cup victory before reaching the semi-finals in Melbourne.
February – Sebastian Baez
Perhaps the biggest shock of this list, Sebastian Baez was the cream of the crop in February this year, as he took home two ATP Tour titles.
The diminutive Argentine won the Rio Open ATP 500 event, before winning in Santiago later in the month.

Alex de Minaur might feel hard done by having reached the Rotterdam final and winning in Acapulco, both at ATP 500 level, but Baez’s two titles were just enough to give him the nod.
March – Jannik Sinner
March was a real toss-up between the two standout players on the ATP Tour this year, as Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz shared the two Sunshine Double Masters 1000 titles.
Having won the Miami Open, and qualifying for the last four in Indian Wells, it’s the 23-year-old Italian who pips his rival in March.

Daniil Medvedev was another consistent performer this month, finishing as runner-up in Indian Wells and making the semi-finals in Miami.
April – Stefanos Tsistipas
He didn’t enjoy his best year in 2024, but April was definitely a strong month for Stefanos Tsitsipas, as he won the Monte-Carlo Masters for the third time.

He backed up his performance in the principality by reaching the final of the ATP 500 event in Barcelona the week after, as he enjoyed a positive start to his clay court season.
Casper Ruud and Andrey Rublev were also impressive in April, but didn’t quite do enough to surpass the Greek for top spot.
May – Carlos Alcaraz
Long promised to be the heir to Rafael Nadal’s Roland Garros throne, Alcaraz took home his first French Open title in May.
He was mightily impressive throughout the two-weeks in Paris, as he completed the ‘Surface Slam’, having already won the US Open, and Wimbledon.
Zverev won the Italian Open and made the final of the French Open, but couldn’t beat his Spanish rival to win his first Slam and make this list.
June – Tommy Paul
The one pure grass court month of the season saw several ATP stars impress, but one stood out above the rest.
Tommy Paul won Queen’s, his first title at ATP 500 level, having reached the quarter-finals in the Netherlands the week prior.

It was a fantastic achievement and one that proved the American’s grass court credentials.
July – Carlos Alcaraz
Alcaraz defended his Wimbledon title in July, as he took down Djokovic in straight sets in the final.
It was a dominant display and one that saw fans agree in unison that the Spaniard was now the best grass-court player walking the planet.

Djokovic got some revenge at the end of the month, however, as he won Olympic Gold, beating Alcaraz in the final.
August – Jannik Sinner
Sinner won the Cincinnati Masters in August and began his assault on a first US Open crown.
The Italian number one dispatched Frances Tiafoe with ease in Ohio, and made good progress in New York later in the month.

It was the beginning of a very strong end to the season for the 23-year-old who became a deserved two-time Slam champion at Flushing Meadows.
September – Carlos Alcaraz
Alcaraz began September with a sensational performance at the Laver Cup, where he won three of his four matches as he guided Team Europe to victory.

He then followed up a strong week in Berlin with an excellent showing in Beijing as he beat Sinner in the final, for his third win over the Italian in 2024.
Arthur Fils’ win in Tokyo was also impressive, however, and the Frenchman is certainly a name to watch out for in the new year.
October – Jannik Sinner
Sinner didn’t have the busiest of schedules in October but his win in Shanghai against Djokovic was more than enough to see him return to this list for a fourth time.
The Italian won in straight sets as he clinched his third Masters 100 title of the season, maintaining an incredible level of consistency throughout 2024.

Paul, Karen Khachanov, Roberto Bautista Agut Jack Draper, and Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard were also able to pick up titles in October
November – Jannik Sinner
As if he hadn’t won enough in 2024, Sinner finished the year off in style as he won both the ATP Finals and Davis Cup Finals in November.
The world number one took down Taylor Fritz in Turin, as he beat the American twice in one week on his way to the year-end championships title, before comfortably guiding his country to Davis Cup glory.
The best for five of the 12 months in 2024, there really should be no argument as to who the best player was this season.
December – Joao Fonseca
There was just one tournament in December, which meant that the winner of the Next Gen ATP Finals was guaranteed a place on the list.
No-one performed better in Jeddah than Brazil’s Joao Fonseca, who won every single match on his way to the biggest title of his career.
Just the third 18 year old to win the event after Sinner, and Alcaraz, there are certainly some big things in the youngster’s future.
