The US Open is the final Grand Slam tournament of the 2025 season and has already got off to a successful start.
New York will host the top tennis stars once again, with Aryna Sabalenka and Jannik Sinner looking to defend their US Open singles titles.
Not only will Sinner want to defend his title, but also his world number one ranking as Carlos Alcaraz looks to dethrone him.
While the singles tournament will be the main event, the mixed doubles tournament has also got people talking.

The US Open may have forced other Grand Slams to reconsider their mixed doubles events
There were a lot of sceptics about the US Open mixed doubles event this year after its overhaul really split opinion.
While it was far from perfect, it appeared that the US Open mixed doubles event has been a hit with tennis fans.
Star-studded teams including Carlos Alcaraz and Emma Raducanu, Jack Draper and Jessica Pegula, and Casper Ruud and Iga Swiatek really enabled the doubles to have more eyes on it than ever before.
While some of the top ATP and WTA stars playing together was amazing to see, there was also a different dynamic that gripped tennis fans.
Defending champions Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori had been very critical of the US Open, and were the only doubles specialist team that were in the draw.
It appeared that they almost saw it as their mission to show the US Open that doubles specialists will always be better at doubles than singles players, and they certainly did that after Errani and Vavassori won the US Open mixed doubles title for a second consecutive year.
All of these different dynamics made for a really entertaining event, and it should give food for thought to the three other majors.
The Australian Open has said they have no plans to change mixed doubles, but after seeing the success of the US Open event they may want to re-think this decision.
Three improvements that the US Open will need to make to the mixed doubles event next year
Some of the criticism that has been directed towards the US Open for the mixed doubles event is certainly fair, and there needs to be amendments made in 2026.
After seeing the drama that Errani and Vavassori brought to the competition, the US Open needs to add more doubles specialists to the event next year.
There were a lot of suggestions that the event felt like an exhibition this year, something that got Draper told off by Pegula for saying.
One of the big factors for this feeling has to be the scoring format, which saw sets played in a fast-four format for every match other than the final.
While this allows the event to be played over just two days, it is always going to feel more like an exhibition if it remains that way.
The third thing that really needs to change is actually not an issue of the US Open’s, but more the tournaments that are preceding it.
Cincinnati hosted the ATP/WTA 1000 tournament as it does every year, but this year the final was held on a Monday.
As a result, Cincinnati Open champions Alcaraz and Swiatek had less than 24 hours to head to New York from their title victories.
While Alcaraz and Swiatek both made it, the Cincinnati Open definitely contributed to the withdrawals of runners-up Jannik Sinner and Jasmine Paolini.
Despite improvements still needing to be made next year, overall the US Open mixed doubles event was a roaring success.
