Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Swiatek have just won the Cincinnati Open for the first time in their respective careers.

The two finals were very different, with Alcaraz beating Jannik Sinner by retirement after the world number one was struggling due to illness.

While the women’s singles final was much more conventional, as Iga Swiatek beat Jasmine Paolini in straight sets.

Both Swiatek and Alcaraz will now head to the US Open, as they look to add to their already decorated résumés.

Carlos Alcaraz’s record at Grand Slams and ATP 1000 tournaments

In the tennis calendar, the main tournaments for ATP players are the four Grand Slams and nine Masters 1000 events.

The Cincinnati Open is Alcaraz’s sixth different Masters title, with there now being only four Grand Slam or Masters events missing from his collection.

Coincidentally, Alcaraz’s best result at all of the Grand Slams and Masters 1000 events is either winning the title or reaching the quarterfinal.

The tournaments missing from Alcaraz’s collection are now the Australian Open, the Canadian Open, the Shanghai Masters and the Paris Masters.

Both the Shanghai and Paris Masters events could still be won by Alcaraz in 2025, as they take place in the latter stages of the season.

At the 2026 Australian Open, Alcaraz will look to become the first man to complete the Career Grand Slam since Novak Djokovic did at Roland Garros in 2016.

Alcaraz could also join an even more exclusive list with Djokovic in the near future, as he looks to complete the set of Masters 1000 titles.

The Masters 1000 series began in 1990, and Djokovic is currently the only player to have won every single one.

Iga Swiatek’s record at Grand Slams and WTA 1000 tournaments

With Swiatek winning Wimbledon last month, she is in a similar position to Alcaraz in terms of Grand Slams with just the Australian Open missing from her collection.

The new world number two has won seven 1000 level tournaments, but still has three missing from her collection as there are 10 on the WTA Tour.

Swiatek has come close to winning the Dubai Tennis Championships and Canadian Open before, but she has actually never played the Wuhan Open.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Wuhan Open was not held between 2020 and 2023, and Swiatek was conducting her ban from tennis when the event returned last year.
