Iva Jovic has claimed her maiden success on the WTA Tour, battling past Emiliana Arango to win the Guadalajara Open.

Jovic has matched Coco Gauff with her win in Mexico, where the 17-year-old secured a 6-4, 6-1 win over Arango.

A first-time WTA champion was certain when the duo went head-to-head, with Jovic winning their battle after one hour and 35 minutes.

And the victory has helped continue a strong season for American women, with four currently within the world top 10.

But while the current scene looks strong, the future of American tennis in general also looks to be in safe hands thanks to three players in particular.

Iva Jovic (17)

Jovic has now shot herself to the very top of the pile of American teenagers to keep an eye on following her superb run in Mexico.

The 17-year-old has risen up a huge 37 places in the WTA rankings to 36th, a career-high for the teenager.

Just six American women are above her in the world rankings, with that list including Grand Slam champions Gauff and Madison Keys.

Clervie Ngounoue (19)

Two years older than Jovic, 19-year-old Clervie Ngounoue is another player in her career-high rank, albeit down in 176th.

But the teenager certainly looks like having the potential to continue climbing the rankings as the months go on.

Learner Tien (19)

Learner Tien, also 19, has ensured that female American teenagers aren’t the only ones making waves this season.

Like Ngounoue, he’s chasing his first career title, and he’s also been catching the eye with many fantastic displays.

That includes the current ATP number 54 picking up wins over Daniil Medvedev and Alexander Zverev at the Australian Open and Acapulco respectively.

He fell short of a similar upset against Novak Djokovic at the US Open, but is one of the shining lights in an otherwise difficult time for American men’s tennis.
