Iva Jovic has followed in the footsteps of fellow American Coco Gauff after triumphing at the Guadalajara Open.
Jovic emerged victorious in her Guadalajara Open final with Emiliana Arango, who she defeated 6-4, 6-1.
The 17-year-old American has now clinched her maiden WTA title, making her the youngest American to achieve the feat since Gauff won in Parma in 2021.
Jovic needed one hour and 35 minutes to claim the WTA 500 trophy, which will also help her break the top 50 in the world rankings for the first time.
The teenager entered the event in 73rd, and now becomes the 12th player to break the top 50 this season.

Iva Jovic helps teenagers continue stunning WTA season
Importantly, Jovic wasn’t the only teenage champion on the WTA Tour this week, with the American joined by Tiantsoa Rakotomanga Rajaonah.
The 19-year-old won the WTA 250 Sao Paolo Open, with the French youngster helping match a 17-year record in women’s tennis.
As per OptaAce, two teenagers have won in the same week for the first time since Caroline Wozniacki and Sorana Cirstea did so in 2008.
The former was successful in Tokyo back then, with the latter claiming her success in Tashkent.
In fact, teenagers are now remarkably 7-0 in singles finals in 2025, proving just how bright the future of women’s tennis is.
Jovic has shot all the way up to 36th in the world rankings after her title, with Rajaonah also in a career-high 131st after her maiden success.
Andreeva meanwhile is 5th in the WTA rankings at the age of just 18, while 19-year-old Canadian Open champion Victoria Mboko is 23rd.
