Taylor Fritz still has things that he needs to achieve this year, even after the conclusion of the Grand Slam season.

Fritz lost in the US Open quarterfinals to Novak Djokovic, as he was unable to reach the final of the New York major for a second consecutive season.

This continued his one-sided head-to-head against the 24-time Grand Slam champion, with Fritz still winless against Djokovic.

Following the conclusion of the US Open, Fritz does not have time to rest on his laurels with a big goal ahead of him.

Taylor Fritz needs to make qualifying for the ATP Finals a priority

Fritz is the current world number five, but over 17% of his current ranking point total comes from an event that he is yet to qualify for in 2025.

That is the year-end tournament in Turin, with Fritz reaching the final of the ATP Finals last year before losing to Jannik Sinner.

The ATP Finals host the top eight players from the season every year, but Fritz is yet to confirm his place at the tournament in 2025.

In the race to the ATP Finals, only Carlos Alcaraz and Sinner have confirmed their qualification, while Fritz currently sits in sixth place.

This could create some uncertainty for Fritz, as he is only 475 points from ninth place, but Jack Draper is struggling with injury and will not play any more tournaments in 2025.

Fritz may also benefit from Djokovic, who may withdraw from the ATP Finals again like he did last year.

Regardless of this, Fritz needs to make sure that he does qualify for the ATP Finals, as he cannot afford to drop 800 ranking points without even having a chance to defend them.

What is Taylor Fritz’s schedule for the rest of the 2025 season?

Fritz has a busy schedule for the remainder of the 2025 season, but not all of these events are actually going to help contribute in his bid to qualify for the ATP Finals.

Both of the 27-year-old’s next two scheduled tournaments are team events, with Fritz competing in the USA’s Davis Cup qualifier against Czechia, before representing Team World at the Laver Cup for a fifth time.

The next ATP tournament where ranking points will be on offer for Fritz is the Japan Open, where he is a former champion.

However, he will be faced with the tricky proposition of new world number one Alcaraz, who will be making his Japan Open debut this year.

Fritz will then play two Masters 1000 tournaments, where there will be big ranking point offerings, in both Shanghai and Paris.
