Ben Shelton sends three word message to Taylor Fritz after his ATP Finals loss to Jannik Sinner

Taylor Fritz failed to enact revenge on Jannik Sinner as the world number one secured his first ATP Finals title.

Fritz congratulated Sinner on the victory, with the Italian having also beaten the American in the ATP Finals group stages.

Sinner was in formidable form at the tournament, having undoubtedly been driven by the home fans in Turin.

He stormed his way to the ATP Finals finale, reaching the last two without dropping a single set, having eased past Casper Ruud in the semi-finals.

Fritz was impressed by Sinner’s serving during their final clash, with the Italian going on to lift the trophy without conceding a set.

But the American can be extremely proud of his efforts, having beaten world number two Alexander Zverev in the semi-finals.

His efforts certainly caught the eye of his compatriot Ben Shelton, who wrote of Fritz on his Instagram story: “Good work homie.”

Fritz knew exactly what he was heading into with his final showdown with Sinner, having lost 6-4, 6-4 to him in the groups.

That scoreline was repeated in the final, where the American was once again taking on both his opponent and the Turin crowd.

The pair had only recently met in the US Open final, where Sinner denied Fritz glory in the latter’s first ever Grand Slam final.

Sinner meanwhile won his second major title of the season after his Australian Open success, while he now has a stunning eight titles to his name in 2024.

Fritz has now replaced Daniil Medvedev as the world number four, his highest ever career ATP Tour ranking.

The 27-year-old American has won twice this season, and now turns his focus to the Davis Cup Finals in Malaga.
