Jannik Sinner was clearly the man to beat at Indian Wells and the Miami Open, winning both tournaments to complete the Sunshine Double.
Sinner will take a brief break after winning the Miami Open, which he did via a 6-4, 6-4 final victory over Jiri Lehecka.
His victorious venture in Miami arrived immediately after Sinner clinched the title at Indian Wells, where he won his final with Daniil Medvedev.
The Italian has just become the eighth man to complete the Sunshine Double, but the first player ever – male or female – to achieve the feat without dropping a set.
It was a show of utter dominance from Sinner, who was seemingly pushed the hardest by Brazilian youngster Joao Fonseca.
Joao Fonseca can be proud after threatening Jannik Sinner
Remarkably, Fonseca is the only player who managed to get to set point against Sinner across Indian Wells and the Miami Open.
It’s something that the 19-year-old can be very proud of, although at the same time perhaps even disappointed.
Fonseca not only got to set point in their round of 16 tie, but also held triple set point up 6-3 in the first-set tie-break.
However, it wasn’t meant to be for the two-time ATP winner as Sinner turned things around to triumph 7-6(8-6), 7-6(7-4).
Fonseca showed his great potential against Sinner, and it is a match he can take great confidence from despite the outcome.
Every win from Jannik Sinner’s stunning Sunshine Double triumph
In a stunning run of form, Sinner took all 24 sets he played as he claimed the top prizes at Indian Wells and Miami.
It makes Fonseca’s achievement all the more impressive, even if he did ultimately blow the chance to take the momentum early in their meeting.

And just to kick him when he was down, the Brazilian teenager was forced to take on Carlos Alcaraz early in Miami.
He again showed great promise in a 6-4, 6-4 defeat before the top seed was shocked by Sebastian Korda.
His loss meant another Alcaraz versus Sinner epic was ruled out, with the two leading players now needing to wait until the imminent clay-court swing for another potential clash.
