Jannik Sinner is already looking ahead to the clay court season after winning the Miami Open.

Sinner won the Miami Open title after beating Jiri Lehecka 6-4, 6-4 in the final, enabling him to complete the Sunshine Double.

Not only has Sinner won Indian Wells and the Miami Open back-to-back, but he has become the first player ever to do it without dropping a set.

Sinner stated that winning Roland Garros is one of his biggest goals earlier this year, and he is now already looking ahead to the clay court season after his triumph in Miami.

Jannik Sinner claims his ‘body is going to hurt’ ahead of clay court season

After winning the Miami Open title, Sinner spoke to Tennis Channel where he was asked about his plans for the coming days.

Sinner responded by revealing that he would be heading straight back to Monaco, where he resides, the following day before having a couple of days off ahead of the clay court season.

Who is the better hard court player – Carlos Alcaraz or Jannik Sinner?

The world number two also admitted that he expects his body to hurt a bit as he adjusts to changing surfaces.

“I am going to jump on the plane tomorrow,” said Sinner. “I am going to be in Monaco around lunchtime on Tuesday. We will have a couple of days off and then are aiming to go back on court on Thursday.

“[We will go] slowly, but just to have the movements again. The body is going to hurt a bit, I know that, because the movements are a bit different on clay.

“Then we will see how I am going to feel. Usually I am aiming to play on Tuesday because if you win you have one day of recovery, which helps on a new surface.

“But I also need to see how I feel. The body is our everything so I want to protect it, so let’s see how I am going to feel.”

Not only will Sinner be at home, but he will also be local to his next scheduled tournament at the Monte Carlo Masters.

How could Jannik Sinner become world number one at the Monte Carlo Masters?

Sinner was banned from tennis for three months last year, and as a result was unable to play the Monte Carlo Masters in 2025.

This means that he now has a big opportunity to collect ranking points, and Sinner could even overtake Carlos Alcaraz as world number one.

After winning the Miami Open, Sinner knows that he needs to at least reach the semifinals of the Monte Carlo Masters to have a chance of becoming world number one again, but he can guarantee his place at the top of the rankings if he wins the title.
