Sinner hailed his relationship with Alcaraz after winning against the best player in the world according to the rankings, and the rivalry looks to be thriving.

Alcaraz discussed whether he could beat Novak Djokovic’s haul of Grand Slam titles before his latest match with Sinner, and on current form, the pair will dominate for many years to come.

Carlos Alcaraz has made a foolish Davis Cup decision

The Davis Cup has been a hot topic of discussion for a few months, with Jannik Sinner choosing not to make an appearance for Italy as they defend their title.

Sinner has been slammed for not playing in the Davis Cup. The Italian has chosen to skip the event to prepare properly for the Australian swing that kicks off 2026.

Alcaraz losing to Sinner is good for the rivalry

A healthy rivalry needs ample wins for each party, and in 2025, Sinner has been behind Alcaraz when it comes to the head-to-head.

Alcaraz ousted Sinner at the French Open and the US Open, with Sinner emerging victorious at Wimbledon and now at the ATP Finals.

As a result, his latest win in Turin does leave the rivalry in a very healthy state going into 2026, when the pair will almost certainly meet again in a number of big finals.

Alcaraz has to be applauded for honouring his Davis Cup call-up. However, it feels like a risky one considering how quickly the Australian Open will come around for the top players, and it remains to be seen if he will regret this decision to play in the event.
