The French Open has now concluded, with the men’s final between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz bringing the curtain down on the Grand Slam in perfect fashion.
Former ATP number one Mats Wilander says Alcaraz and Sinner played the greatest match ever, whereby the Spaniard beat the Italian.
Rafael Nadal said the French Open had an incredible ending, with the legendary figure having won the Grand Slam a record 14 times.
But his compatriot Alcaraz has now won each of the last two titles at Roland Garros, with his latest coming in utterly stunning fashion.
He recovered from two sets down and saved three championship points to defeat Sinner 4-6, 6-7(4-7), 6-4, 7-6(7-3), 7-6(10-2).

Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz complete tennis miracle at French Open
It was truly a tennis miracle in Paris for more reasons than one, with the level of the two players simply unbelievable.
They maintained their world-class standards for five hours and 29 minutes, much to the delight of those inside Court Philippe-Chatrier.

But it also undoubtedly proved that tennis is in very, very capable hands, with Sinner and Alcaraz very likely to repeat their heroics for the foreseeable future.
The hugely talented duo now represent the winners of the last six men’s Grand Slam titles, and seven of the last eight.
Tennis fans now have no need to fear when legend Novak Djokovic retires
The only man able to interrupt their superb dominance has been Novak Djokovic, who won the 2023 US Open.
But he won’t be around forever, with the 24-time Grand Slam champion having potentially just made his last French Open appearance.

He did impressively manage to reach the semi-finals before falling to Sinner, but the Serbian is coming increasingly close to calling time on his glittering career.
Such a situation would have really worried tennis fans not so long ago, particularly with the recent retirement of Rafael Nadal.
| Year | Australian Open | French Open | Wimbledon | US Open |
| 2023 | Novak Djokovic | Novak Djokovic | Carlos Alcaraz | Novak Djokovic |
| 2024 | Jannik Sinner | Carlos Alcaraz | Carlos Alcaraz | Jannik Sinner |
| 2025 | Jannik Sinner | Carlos Alcaraz | – | – |
The Spaniard decided to hang up his racket late last year, following in the footsteps of his fellow Big Three member Roger Federer, who retired in 2022.
Djokovic is the last man standing in that regard, having enjoyed a thrilling rivalry with Federer and Nadal when all three were at their peak.
But tennis fans have no need to worry whatsoever given the new rivalry that has now formed on the ATP Tour.
Sinner and Alcaraz have already met 12 times in their relatively brief careers so far, but they only just played out their first Grand Slam final.
| Year | Winner | Tournament | Round | Surface |
| 2025 | Carlos Alcaraz | US Open | Final | Outdoor hard |
| 2025 | Carlos Alcaraz | ATP Masters 1000 Cincinnati | Final | Outdoor hard |
| 2025 | Jannik Sinner | Wimbledon | Final | Outdoor grass |
| 2025 | Carlos Alcaraz | French Open | Final | Outdoor Clay |

| 2024 | Carlos Alcaraz | Beijing | Final | Outdoor Hard |
| 2024 | Carlos Alcaraz | Roland Garros | Semi-final | Outdoor Clay |
| 2024 | Carlos Alcaraz | ATP Masters 1000 Indian Wells | Semi-final | Outdoor Hard |
| 2023 | Jannik Sinner | Beijing | Semi-final | Outdoor Hard |
| 2023 | Jannik Sinner | ATP Masters 1000 Miami | Semi-final | Outdoor Hard |
| 2023 | Carlos Alcaraz | ATP Masters 1000 Indian Wells | Semi-final | Outdoor Hard |
| 2022 | Carlos Alcaraz | US Open | Quarter-final | Outdoor Hard |
| 2022 | Jannik Sinner | Umag | Final | Outdoor Clay |
| 2022 | Jannik Sinner | Wimbledon | Round of 16 | Outdoor Grass |
| 2021 | Carlos Alcaraz | ATP Masters 1000 Paris | Round of 32 | Indoor Hard |
And if that was anything to go by, tennis fans are in for a real treat for many years to come, making Djokovic’s impending retirement less significant with regard to the future of the sport.
He will, of course, still be sorely missed on the ATP Tour, with the Serbian set to go down in tennis history for his efforts on the court.
But there is the added bonus of his current standing before he does make that decision, with Djokovic still certain to try and push Sinner and Alcaraz all the way as he chases a record 25th Grand Slam title.
