Carlos Alcaraz has successfully defended his French Open title, defeating Jannik Sinner in a thrilling final.
Former professional Sam Querrey backed Sinner to win the French Open final, where the ATP number one was playing his first Grand Slam final against Alcaraz.
But it was world number two Alcaraz who came out on top, defeating Sinner 4-6, 6-7(4-7), 6-4, 7-6(7-3), 7-6(10-2).
Court Philippe-Chatrier played host to one of the greatest Grand Slam finals of all time, with the match lasting five hours and 29 minutes.
Alcaraz and Sinner played out the longest final in Roland Garros history, with the Spaniard now a five-time Grand Slam champion.

The final will live long in the memory of tennis fans, particularly those who watched on from Court Philippe-Chatrier.
Sinner and Alcaraz gave their all, and unfortunately one of the tennis superstars had to lose as the other celebrated a stunning victory.

And Nadal wasn’t the only tennis icon blown away by their displays, with his fellow legend Stan Wawrinka writing on X: “Insane level.”
Current ATP star Casper Ruud meanwhile said: “Whatever the outcome I would just like to say congratulations and thank you to both players for an incredible final.”
Women’s legend Chris Evert commented: “I cannot believe this match,” with Alex de Minaur also left completely stunned.
Fortunately for all who took in the action, the already hugely exciting rivalry between the Italian and the Spaniard looks set to continue for some time.
But that may also be worrying for the likes of De Minaur and Ruud, and perhaps a relief for even someone as legendary as Nadal.
