The clay season is quickly approaching its final tournament, with the main draw of the French Open set to begin on the 25th of May.
The women’s draw was announced on Thursday, which featured a difficult draw for Iga Swiatek, who is in pursuit of her fourth consecutive Roland Garros title.
World number one Aryna Sabalenka enters the tournament as the first seed and will look to clinch a maiden French Open crown and fourth Grand Slam title.
With the seeded players poised to take centre stage, the qualifying rounds are nearing their conclusion.
Several winners in Friday’s matches have now booked their place in the main draw of the major, including one player who WTA number two Coco Gauff thinks has a lot of potential.
Victoria Mboko qualifies for the main draw at the French Open
Following her straight-sets victory over Kaja Juvan, 18-year-old Victoria Mboko has confirmed her spot in the main draw of the 2025 French Open.
Her triumph comes in a breakout season for the young Canadian, who has made headway on the WTA tour this season.
Mboko recently made the second round of the Italian Open, where she took former US Open champion Gauff to a third set.
After their clash in Rome, Gauff said of her opponent: “I felt like playing myself because I feel like I move pretty well, she moves very well.
“As far as the other parts of her game, she’s obviously a big hitter, can play well, moves pretty well, has a nice backhand, same on the forehand.
“I don’t want to say she plays like me ’cause she obviously doesn’t. We’re like closer in age. I would say on the movement side, athletically, she’s one of the best athletes on tour.”

Before her arrival in Paris, Mboko had won 37 matches in 2025, with just seven losses to her name.
She has continued her red-hot form at the Roland Garros qualifiers, having not dropped a set in her impressive run, earning dominant wins over her opponents.
Mboko clinched her first victory against Austrian Sinja Kraus in convincing fashion and beat Kathinka von Deichmann in the following round.
In her final match against Juvan, she was tested in the first set, but ultimately emerged victorious, defeating the Slovenian 7-5, 6-3.
A first-round match now awaits Mboko, who is one of two Canadians in the women’s singles draw at Roland Garros, alongside Leyla Fernandez.
