After coming through their semifinal clashes, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz will meet in a Grand Slam final once again at the US Open.

It was never in doubt that the two stars would advance to the championship match at Flushing Meadows, with Alcaraz defeating Novak Djokovic in straight sets, and Sinner overcoming Felix Auger-Aliassime in four.

Between them, they have only dropped two sets at the tournament so far, which have both come in the Italian’s campaign during his bouts with Denis Shapovalov and Auger-Aliassime.

Alcaraz and Sinner will now fight for their sixth and fifth major titles, respectively, in a final that will see history being made at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

History to be made in the men’s singles final at the US Open

For the first time since 1973, when the ATP rankings were first published, the world number one and two have met in all four Grand Slam men’s singles finals in a season.

At the Australian Open, second seed Alexander Zverev went up against the defending champion for the title.

After that, Sinner and Alcaraz clashed in the finals of both the French Open and Wimbledon, and will now go toe-to-toe in the title bout at the US Open.

It will mark their 15th tour-level meeting, with the Spaniard leading the head-to-head by nine wins to five.

The 22-year-old has enjoyed a flawless campaign, which began with three comfortable victories in the opening rounds.
