Carlos Alcaraz will make his return to the US Open final after defeating Novak Djokovic in straight sets at Arthur Ashe Stadium.

Despite being forced to a second-set tiebreak, the Spaniard was largely untroubled against the Serb and came through to continue his flawless run at Flushing Meadows, winning 6-4, 7-6, 6-2.

Alcaraz has now reached the seventh Grand Slam final of his career, and third of the 2025 season, having won the French Open earlier this year before finishing as the runner-up at Wimbledon.

After triumphing over Djokovic, the 22-year-old explained how he was able to earn such a convincing victory against the legend.

Carlos Alcaraz gives his immediate reaction to beating Novak Djokovic

In his on-court interview, Alcaraz said: “It’s a great feeling. Once again in a final here at the US Open.

“It feels amazing. It means a lot to me. Today it wasn’t the best level of the tournament for me, but I just keep a good level from the beginning until the last point.

“I served pretty well, which was pretty important. I was trying to play a really physical match, and I think I did it,” explained the five-time major champion.

“In general, I think I played really good tennis and I’m happy to play my second final at the US Open.”

Carlos Alcaraz joins exclusive club of players to beat Novak Djokovic on all surfaces

Alcaraz is now just the fifth player to beat Djokovic on hard court, clay and grass at ATP Tour-level tournaments.

He defeated him on the dirt at the Madrid Open and emerged victorious in both the 2023 and 2024 finals at Wimbledon.

Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Andy Murray and Jannik Sinner are the only other players who have managed the feat.

Alcaraz will now await the winner of the second semifinal between Sinner and Felix Auger-Aliassime.
