Jannik Sinner enjoyed his best run at the French Open, where he narrowly missed out on the title to Carlos Alcaraz.
John McEnroe has backed Sinner to win the French Open, a tournament Alcaraz has now won for the past two years.
He defeated Alexander Zverev in the final this time last year, and has now followed that up with an unforgettable comeback win over Sinner.
In a match that lasted almost five-and-a-half hours, Alcaraz eventually triumphed 4-6, 6-7(4-7), 6-4, 7-6(7-3), 7-6 in the French Open final.
A packed Court Philippe-Chatrier watched on, with the top two players in the ATP rankings having gone head-to-head.

What the Philippe-Chatrier crowd did to Jannik Sinner in the French Open final
Sinner enjoyed the French Open final atmosphere, which was discussed post-match by broadcaster Craig Doyle on TNT Sports.
“Did you notice something else really cool happened in that match?” he asked. “At the start the whole crowd was all about Carlos, Carlos, Carlos. And as Sinner came back – and I hope people got this at home – but they got what a warrior he was.

“They started supporting him as well and by the end of the game people were just supporting the unbelievable speech they were watching.
“I thought Sinner’s speech at the end was phenomenal, he has won over a lot of fans. I know it’s not a personality contest but sometimes it kind of is, and Sinner did himself a lot of good here today.”
Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz continue men’s Grand Slam trend
Sinner received heavy praise for his speech immediately after losing to Alcaraz, despite the heartbreaking nature of the loss.
It shows the Italian’s class and grace in losing, which hasn’t always been the case after Grand Slam finals.

But more important was the spectacle he helped deliver alongside his rival, with the duo putting on an unforgettable show in Paris.
An all-time classic match was always on the cards given their current standings and ability, but they somehow managed to take the action to a whole new level.

Superbly for tennis fans, another reunion could take place at Wimbledon, with the grass court Grand Slam starting later this month.
The men’s major calendar has started exactly as it did in 2024, with Sinner winning the Australian Open and Alcaraz winning the French Open.
| Year | Australian Open | French Open | Wimbledon | US Open |
| 2024 | Jannik Sinner | Carlos Alcaraz | Carlos Alcaraz | Jannik Sinner |
| 2025 | Jannik Sinner | Carlos Alcaraz | – | – |
If the trend continues, the Spaniard will triumph at the All England Club while the Italian wins at Flushing Meadows.
But their current dominance may just inspire another to step up, although that seems a very tall order at this moment in time.
